The
varied crafts of Salamanca are the expression of
the deep relationship that the people of Salamanca
have with their land. We invite you to dive into
a world that will transport you from the beauty
of useful things to the personalized works of art.
Wherever the soil allows it, potters
and ceramists
will apear. Such is the case of Alba de Tormes,
El Bodón or Cespedosa. Wood
offers barrels in Puerto de Béjar, utensils
made of chestnut in Montemayor del Río, furniture
of vegetable
fibers
in Villoruela, and engravings
in La Alberca and in La Fuente de San Esteban, among
others.
Masonry
in sandstone is mastered in Villamayor and in granite
in Los Santos, Sorihuela or Villavieja de Yeltes.
Expert blacksmiths
are located in practically every municipality, and
other traditional occupations can still be found
in Ciudad Rodrigo. Also, in Miróbriga, jewelers
elevate Salamanca filigree to the highest level
of quality of craftsmenship, as well as they do
in Tamames, Salamanca, Béjar or San Martin
del Castañar.
Harness-makers
and shoemakers
offer their products to cattle raisers, among many
other places, in Cuidad Rodrigo, Fuenteguinaldo,
Mogarraz, Macotera, Villavieja of Yeltes, Lumbrales
or Salamanca.
Mountain
embroidery
reaches complete perfection in La Alberca and Mogarraz
and the looms
still move in El Bodón and Lumbrales. |
