The El Chorro waterfall
(Natural Park of Las Batuecas) |

In lands of the
south of Salamanca there is an intricate, mountainous
territory, rich in forests and hidden valleys, furrowed
by the noisy currents of rivers searching for the
nearby lands of Cáceres.
All of them form this Nature
Park that
includes some of the greatest places of tourist
attraction of the whole province.
At the feet of the unmistakable outline of the Peña
de Francia
the enigmatic valle
de Batuecas
opens up. This area is rich in
cave paintings,
hidden in the rocky shelters that decorate this
area so uniquely. Here the immortal silhouette of
the Carmelite
monastery
also stands out.
We may catch a glimpse of a mountain goat as we
cross over the hills to go into towns that have
known how to conserve the whole picturesquesness
and the singularity of their urban layout and the
uniqueness of their traditional architecture.
Enjoy their roads and paths, and notice the great
variety of species of flora and fauna
and of the Atlantic and Mediterranean characteristics
that converge in them. |
