The nature area
of El
Rebollar
expands to the southwest of the province, where
the lands of Salamanca converge with those of Portugal
and Cáceres.
The summits of the Sierra
de Gata,
at 1,500 m. in altitude, descend toward the district
of Ciudad Rodrigo
as soft hillsides covered in conifers and in the
other species that provide this area with the highest
level of environmental quality of Salamanca. We
are referring especially, of course, to the oak
rebollo
which creates a magnificent grove enriched by some
gallery forests that festoon the rivers and streams
that descend from the mountain.
Species in danger of extinction like the wolf or
the lynx, the black vulture or the black stork,
find safe refuge here, sharing an environment of
mainly cattle use. |
