Snowy summits
of the Sierra of Béjar, deep valleys in Arribes
del Duero, green and yellow seas of crops, thick,
mysterious forests, lands of clear horizons, interweaving
mountain valleys, small crystalline streams and
majestic border river flows..., all are images that
the traveller and walker will be able to enjoy in
his or her journey through the lands of Salamanca.
This is because in this area of the west of the
peninsula two characteristics prevail above all
others that make it unquestionably singular: its
diversity and its environmental quality. This has
allowed the protection of a good part of this territory,
which has been included in the Natural
Habitats Network of Castilla y León
and in the European
Network Natura 2000.
